# Year transition - 3 day event - reflection on previous year, brief look at dna, planning of coming year - the more volmems take part, the more relevant it gets - open for interested visitors ## When? - January 14-16 - 9:00 - 13:00 ## Day 1: DNA - why: get an update on core questions - does it still fit? - is it relevant? - what do we want to do with it now? - [30mins over breakfast] Individual exercise: Read DNA and reflect on core questions. - Identify parts that you think should be discussed again and possibly changed - Identify parts that really resonate with you - People write them on small papers and throw them in boxes, then we read them out after - [30mins in big group] reading out papers and discuss, do we think it is salvagable? should we make an attempt to improve and publish it? - [20mins small groups of ~3] what is this DNA actually for? - groups write items down, possibly in the form of coherent proposals - [30mins, 10minsx3 times shuffled pairs] exchange on proposals - [30mins in big group] next step & closure round - [afterwards possibly] asynch vote on what to do with dna for real ## Day 2: Reflection on past year - why reflect: - to consciously decide if how i act is how i want to act - to be able to make better informed decisions for next year - every individual experience is part of the group experience, so my life is our life as well - [30mins to 60 mins over breakfast] individual reflection however you want it - what have you personally been doing last year? - how do you feel about it? - [30mins optional in pairs] - exchange on your individual reflection, did you in any way encorporate our dna in your work? - offer 'couch of the listener': who sits down there is available to give feedback on someone's personal reflection - after 5-10mins the listener will be released by a gong and the people change - dorota facilitates - [60mins with integrated break time] collective reflection with the poster method of last year - put poster with timeline on the floor and let people fill it with collective events - [30mins] did we do what we set out to do last january? - project pictures with last year's 'stop-start-continue' to reflect on - what does it tell us about ourselves? what can we celebrate? - where is the list of prioritized projects from toi3? :( ## Day 3: Planning - why plan: - find alignment of plans/ideas to facilitate collective action - extract commitment to get shit done - get legitimization for possibly disruptive work - help people interestred in getting active form groups - [30mins over breakfast] think about projects related to kh that you want to see happening this year - prepare paper - [45mins] collect ideas from people who are ready to do them - the motivated people explain their idea in 3-5 minutes, no questions allowed - each person frist only presents 1 idea, more can come later - they get legitimization through temperature check - they may get collaborators - [60mins] small group free discussion (incl. break) - goal: clusters and work groups form by themselves - concern: stuff might fall under the table - break up with gong after 10-15mins to change topics - ppl who want tpo work on something, put their names on the paper, also if they don't want to lead - Dorota will facilitate - [20mins] in big group: extract commitment - in two rounds: go through projects, read out names, ask for commitment - round 1: quick mention, immediate answers - round 2: bit more time to see if it will be possible - [10mins] closing - thanks! - feedback welcome (online or in person, but not now in big round) - now be excited for the year to come! xD - [open end] rough scheduling of something? - make poster similar to the reflection, but about the future - Lunchtime :-) celebrate! Notes from discussions on Day 1 regarding DNA [Lena]: - DNA is partly broad and unspecific, but meant to be more broad and more open for interpretation, that's what distinguishes it from the constitution and collective agreements (also so that it's adjustable to environment changes) - wish from several people to make it shorter and easier to quote and remember - questions about the form: poem (see toilet panthom), manifesto, pictures (also idea that maybe several versions about 'What is Kanthaus' could exist) --> proposal from Janina: Short catchy phrases that can be put on a sticker, that emotionally resonates with us and just drop parts where not everyone agrees on) - wish from several people to publish it --> thinking about target audience, purpose of DNA - idea of focusing on Mission: "purpusful projects" but critic that that enforces capitalist performance thinking (Leistungsdenken) and exlcudes people - thought of rather using established terms (like anarchism, queerfeminism), but meaning of terms is always changing and they lack conreteness (how do we do that e.g. already mentioned in DNA "fight oppression") --> Dougs proposal: rather link to other projects with similar values (because our ideas are not new) - idea of rather focusing on activities than values: show how values work and be more specific (e.g. repair work) - certain terms ("capitalist modernity", "iterate" need context knowledge in order to understand) --> either easier to understand terms or explain it - include art besides hackers
